Customer came to me with a favorite bracelet with purple, dyed selenite (cats-eye) stones (and half of them missing). She wanted the dyed selenite replaced with 8 natural amethyst stones. The selenite is a soft stone and they had become very scratched and dull. And besides, amethyst was her birthstone and she really wanted amethyst. I carefully removed the remaining selenite and cleaned the bracelet.
Then I cut and mounted 8 natural amethyst stones. What do you think of the result? Have you ever thought of replacing the stones in a piece of your jewelry?
